Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1978), world champion (1978), champion of the USSR (1978), winner of the 6th Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR (1975). Held 250 fights, 50 international victories in major tournaments, including in the match meetings of the USSR — USA.
He studied at the Dynamo Sports House in Cheboksary under the direction of M. S. Stepanov , prize-winner of the RSFSR Championship (1963), USSR master of sports (1964).
Biography
Valery dreamed of becoming a boxer from the first class: the elder brother of the future athlete was engaged in boxing, and Valery did not want to write to the section because of his insufficient height and weight. Only in the eighth grade Valery was accepted into the section, although he then weighed only 38 kg:
He started boxing in the 40 kg category, then won the Dynamo CS championship among senior youths in the 48 kg weight category. I was lucky at Dynamo, because I not only trained in the same gym with the Olympic champion Mexico City Valerian Sokolov , but also often stood with him, although he weighed 6 kg less. At the age of 18, Valery Lvov became a member of the adult national team of Chuvashia, as part of which he made his debut at the Games of the Peoples of the RSFSR in Saratov . Then he participated in the championship of the Russian Dynamo in Tambov , where he received the title of master of sports.
The winner of the youth championship of the USSR, was recognized as the best boxer of the tournament. After a month and a half became the champion of Europe among juniors in Bucharest . He is awarded the title of master of sports of international class, included in the USSR national team.
At a traditional meeting between boxers of the USSR and the USA in 1973, Lvov in the first round knocked out Ray Leonard , the future Olympic champion, three-time world champion among professionals, although he lost that fight [1] .
He won the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR in 1975 . This tournament also had the status of the 41st USSR Boxing Championship .
In 1977 he graduated from the Department of Agricultural Mechanization of the Chuvash Agricultural Institute [2] . Then, due to illness, he missed the USSR Championship in Frunze and was removed from the national team.
He worked in the police, in the security department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Chuvashia. First foreman , then lieutenant . He returned to the national team to speak at the USSR Championship. I went to the Dynamo training camp in Armenia, after which I won very confidently at the USSR Championship in February 1978 in Tbilisi [1] .
He won the world championship in Belgrade . Gets the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.
