History

Bridgeport Sound Tigers was formed in 2001. Is a New York Islanders Farm Club. In their first season in the AHL 2001/02, the team made it to the Calder Cup finals, where they lost 4-1 in the series to the Chicago Wolves team. The first two seasons, the team's coach was Steve Sterling, who was then replaced by Jack Capuano . Many Sound Tigers players have become the main players of the New York Islanders : Trent Hunter , Rick Dipietro , Chris Campoli , Bruno Gervais and Sean Bergenheim . Some of them play in various clubs of the NHL and Europe: Jeff Hamilton , Eric Godard , Raffi Torres , Wade Dubelevich .

The mascot of the Bridgeport team is named Storm, which means β€œstorm” or β€œstorm” in translation.
