History
The order for the construction of the submarine was given on August 15, 1940 . The boat was laid down on September 3, 1941 at the Germaniaverft shipyard in Kiel under building number 655, and was launched on May 28, 1942 . The boat went into operation on July 11, 1942, under the command of Lieutenant Wolfgang Leymkuyler.

Service History
The boat made 2 military campaigns. Sank one ship with a displacement of 5.273 gb. 4 ships Damaged with a total displacement of 24,672 gb . It was sunk on February 15, 1943 in the North Atlantic , in the area with coordinates depth charges from a Liberator- type aircraft. 46 dead (entire crew).
Until May 1987, it was believed that U-225 was sunk on February 21, 1943 in the North Atlantic , in an area with coordinates depth charges from USS John C. Spencer .
In fact, it was an attack against U-604 , which managed to escape intact.
