Geography
The district is located in the northern part of the Kurgan region and borders on the Sverdlovsk and Tyumen regions, as well as Belozersky , Kargapolsky and Shadrinsky districts of the region.
- Lakes
2 km south of the village of Kyzylbay there is the only Kyzylbay (fresh) lake in the territory of the Shatrovsky district with an area of more than 200 hectares (222 hectares). Refers to the Iset river basin.
History
The district was formed in 1924 on the basis of the decisions of the All - Russian Central Executive Committee on November 3 and 12, 1923 as part of the Tyumen District of the Ural Region from the Chastozoozersky, Likhanovskaya, Butyrinsky, Dolgovskaya and part of the Utchan volosts of the Ishimsky district of the Tyumen province .
The village council included 31 village councils: Antraksky, Vorotnikovsky, Bolshe-Dukhovsky, Butler, Druzhininsky, Ilyinsky, Iryumsky, Kamyshevsky, Kokuysky, Klyuchevsky, Kodsky, Korshunovsky, I-I Mostovsky, II-I Mostovsky, Murashovsky, Portnyaginsky, Ozhnyakovsky, Pushnyakovsky Salamatovsky, Samokhvalovsky, Spassky, Tersyuk, Turushevsky, Chekalinsky, Chernovsky, Chernomakarovsky, Chuvarinsky, Shatrovsky, Shirokovsky, Shuravinsky, Yautlinsky. In 1934, the district became part of the newly formed Chelyabinsk region , in 1943 - into the Kurgan region . In 1963, the district was abolished, and in 1965 it was again restored, it also included the territory of the former Mekhonsky district .

Economics
The basis of the region’s economy is agricultural production. The most significant enterprises in the region in terms of output are SPK Kolkhoz im. Sverdlova ”(grain crops, SPK“ Kolkhoz Rus ”and agricultural holding“ Banner of Lenin ”(cattle). Industrial production is associated with the activities of timber processing enterprises and forestries.
Famous Natives and Residents
- Sabenin Mikhail Varnavich (1904-1968) - employee of state security and internal affairs bodies, captain, Hero of the Soviet Union.
- Shokhin Nikolai Mikhailovich (1913-1981) - a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union , lived in the village of Barino.
- Fitin Pavel Mikhailovich (1907-1971) - head of foreign intelligence of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War, lieutenant general.
