Regiment predecessors
The regiment dates back to August 20, 1798, when a two-battalion musketeer regiment named after him was formed in Yaroslavl by Major General Leitner . The following year he was renamed the Musketeer Major General Mansurov Regiment. On January 20, 1800, the regiment began to be named after the new chief, Major General Nesvetayev .
On March 29, 1801, the regiment was named the Saratov Musketeer Regiment and in 1803 it was sent to the Caucasus , to the coast of the Kuban . There, the regiment took part in the Persian campaign and carried the protection of the Caucasian border.
In 1810, October 19, the regiment was renamed the 46th Jaeger Regiment , and in 1816, February 12, the 17th Jaeger Regiment. In 1819, the regiment was renamed the 41st Jaeger and recalled to Russia, but on May 26, 1825, the regiment was returned to its previous numbering.
In 1828, the 17th (46th) Jaeger Regiment took part in the war with Turkey . For this campaign, the regiment received signs for hats with the inscription "For Distinction" (April 6, 1830).
On January 28, 1833, the regiment was annexed to the Bryansk Infantry Regiment and, as part of it, marched against the Hungarians in 1849. During the Eastern War of 1853-1855 the regiment participated in the siege of Silistria from May 5 to June 9, 1854, and in April 1855 was sent to Sevastopol , where he was assigned to the Malakhov Kurgan . For the repulsion of the August assaults, during which the regiment lost half of its composition, he received an additional inscription on the banner: "For Sevastopol 1854–55."
Vyazemsky Regiment
On April 6, 1863, from the 4th battalion of the Bryansk regiment and indefinitely 5th and 6th battalions of the same regiment, two battalion Bryansk reserve infantry regiment was formed, which on August 13 of that year was deployed into a three-battalion and named Vyazemsky infantry regiment . The following year, March 25, the regiment received No. 115. The seniority of the regiment was established on August 20, 1798, that is, since the formation of the old Saratov Musketeer Regiment. The regimental holiday is scheduled for the 3rd day of Easter .
In the Russian-Turkish campaign of 1877-1878. The Vyazemsky regiment did not participate, having allocated only 5 officers and 200 lower ranks from its composition to replenish the army.
In 1879, the regiment was made up of four battalions. At the beginning of the 20th century, the regiment was given the name of the former chief of the old Saratov regiment of the hero of the Caucasian war, Major General Pyotr Danilovich Nesvetayev .
During the First World War, the Vyazemsky regiment participated in battles in East Prussia and in February 1915 was almost completely destroyed when the remnants of the 20th Corps broke out of the encirclement.
Along the way, I caught up with some in complete mess going part of the Vyazemsky regiment (400 people). I have never seen such an ugly picture. Between the soldiers and the women were children. The women carried guns, and the children carried the equipment of their husbands and fathers. All this on the road ate, smoked, sat down, anywhere, and stretched out over a vast stretch. It turned out that this ugly horde was equipped for the 1st battalion of the Vyazemsky regiment, located where I was going, and led this shameless command Colonel Erasmus , who himself later turned out to be as shameless as these people. Of course, this whole gang was immediately stopped by me and brought to the Christian faith, starting with Colonel Erasmus
- Rosenchild von Paulin A. N. Memoirs of the campaign of 1914-1915
Sing, brothers, about victories
Yes, about the affairs of the past,
About how grandfathers bequeathed
We glory Vyazemsky banners.
Be heard, the song is erasing
Eagle fly under the clouds.
Gremi, you battle glory
Our native and glorious regiment!
By the will of the king and heavenly
The regiment baptized with the Caucasus.
Kars was the father, and the godmother was the uterus
The fortress of Erivan served.
From the Caucasus fighting glory
Farther across the world went.
She is our regiment to the banks of the Danube
She led the fight with enemies.
Persians and Georgians remember us
And the Turks and the Hungarian region,
Caucasus mountains and valleys.
Both Sevastopol and the Danube.
