History and Activities
The Novgorod TPP was commissioned in 1968 and is located 14 km north of Veliky Novgorod on the site of Acron OJSC . Initially, it was part of the production association Lenenergo as a CHPP-20. The installed electric capacity is 361 MW, the installed heat capacity is 488 Gcal / h [1] . The main fuel of the station is natural gas .
Being the only thermal station in the Novgorod region, the thermal power plant is of great importance in the economy of Veliky Novgorod and the region: it generates more than 70% of all electricity consumed in the region and fully provides thermal energy to one of the largest chemical plants in Europe, Acron (production of mineral fertilizers ).
In 2012, a combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 210 MW was put into operation at the Novgorod TPP. [2]
