Franz von Weyrother was born in Vienna in the family of a cavalry general Adam von Weyrother. In 1775, Weyrother joined the 22nd Lassie Infantry Regiment. Two years later he received the rank of lieutenant. In August 1778 he entered as an adjutant to Wenzel Colloredo , where he remained until 1783.
With the rank of lieutenant, he took part in the war with Turkey under the command of Philip Brown. At the beginning of the revolutionary wars he served in Mainz. He received the rank of major in 1795, was wounded in Weissenau.
After recovery, he was sent to the Rhine army under the command of Archduke Charles . In 1795 he became a knight of the Military Order of Maria Theresa .
In September 1796, Weyrother was transferred to northern Italy, where he fought in the battle of Bassano under the command of Joseph Alvinci .
In the campaign of 1799, Weyrother was the chief of staff of General Krai , where he advanced under Legnano on March 26, Magnano on April 5 and Novi . For participation in these battles he was promoted to colonel, received command of the 7th Infantry Regiment, and was marked by Suvorov . He made an unsuccessful route for the Swiss campaign of Suvorov . In the battle of Hohenlinden, Weyrother was the chief of staff of Archduke John .
By the beginning of the Third Coalition war, Weyrother received the rank of major general and became the chief of staff of Kutuzov . He made a disposition for the Battle of Austerlitz , which led to the defeat of Napoleon.
Two and a half months later, at the age of 51, Weyrother died in Vienna.
