Ash-Sharkiya ( Eastern ; Arabic. المنطقة الشرقية ) is a region (mintaka) in the Sultanate of Oman .

In 2011, during the administrative-territorial reform, the region was divided into two governorates: Northern Al-Sharqiya and Southern Al-Sharqia (territories to be specified).
Geography
Located in the north-eastern part of the country, on the coast of the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea .
In the north it borders with Muscat governorate, in the west with the region of Ed-Dahilia , in the south with the region of El-Wust .
20 km from the coast is the island of Masirah .
Tourism
One of the main attractions of the region is the sea coast, the most attractive for tourists in the area from Cape Ras al-Hadd to Cape Ras al-Gaim (42 km). Here annually about 13,000 green turtles lay their eggs. Nature in this area is under the patronage of the Ministry of Oman for regional municipalities, the environment and water resources.
