Content
History
Laid on September 1, 1998. The first Divine Liturgy in the church under construction was completed in August 1999 .
The consecration, led by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova , Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova Vladimir (Kantaryan) , took place on January 16, 2000, in the presence of the President of Transnistria Igor Smirnov .
The construction of the diocesan complex was undertaken by the Sheriff company [1] .
Celebrations to mark the completion of the cathedral included, among other things, the release of a series of postage stamps depicting the church (see Transnistrian stamps issued by Christmas 1999 ).
The image of the cathedral is placed on the banknotes of 100 rubles PMR issue of 2000 and 2007 .
In 2001, the cathedral was depicted on coins in a solemn series of gold and silver monetary units depicting the Orthodox churches of Transnistria .
Since 2007, clerk-administrator Igumen Victor (Sayapin).
On September 8, 2013, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill visited the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, in which he performed a prayer service in front of the Icon of the Mother of God “Recovery of the Dead,” called Tiraspol. Also in memory of his visit, the Patriarch left the icon of St. Righteous Fedor Admiral Ushakov and the image of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God [2] .
Architecture
The cathedral is an architectural complex, which also includes the diocesan administration and the parish house, which houses the cathedral library, Sunday school, cells for clergy, as well as a baptismal church.
The author of the project of the cathedral and the diocesan complex is the Tiraspol architect P. G. Yablonsky. [1] Samples of the temple architecture of Ancient Russia were taken as a basis. The buildings of the diocesan administration and the parish house are built on the samples of Russian architecture of the 17th century.
