Geography
Located in the south of the country. In the northeast, it borders the El Wust region , in the northwest of Saudi Arabia , in the southwest with Yemen . The governorate consists of the islands of Curia Muria .
In Dofar, from mid-August to the end of September, monsoons blow. This leads to the fact that at this time and until the moisture evaporates, lush vegetation can be found in Dofar. Dofar's temporarily humid climate contrasts sharply with the neighboring Rub al-Khali desert .
Population
Until now, part of the population of Dofar continues to use South Arabian languages , in particular, Shehri , a mountain dialect of southern Oman that has common roots with Mehri , which is spoken in Yemen .
Administrative Division
Dofar Governorate is divided into 10 regions with centers in the cities:

Previously, in Salalah, large areas were cultivated using a complex irrigation system. During World War II, agricultural products were almost enough to provide a large British contingent in Mesopotamia .
