Geography
Tuymaada is the largest in terms of population of the three main valleys (also Erkäeni and Ensieli ) in the middle reaches of the Lena. Area - 700 km². The population is 343.8 thousand people (2019), that is, more than a third of the population of all Yakutia.
On the territory of the valley there are many lakes, elders and channels of the Lena. In the western part of Tuymaada - Mount Chochur Muran .
The climate is sharply continental . The average temperature in January is −39.6 ° С, in July +19.0 ° С. Precipitation is about 240 mm per year.
History
According to folklore traditions, the ancestors of the Yakuts Omogoi Bai and Ellei Bootur settled in this valley.
In fact, the Tuymaada valley was inhabited back in the Paleolithic . Archaeological research has led to a large number of finds in a relatively small area. More than 200 archaeological sites of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic , Neolithic , Bronze and Early Iron Ages, as well as the Middle Ages were found [1] [2] .
