Story
After numerous accidents, a driver’s license is taken away from the elderly citizens of the city. The organization of retirees protests and eventually seizes power in the city. The rebellion is led by Stan's grandfather, still alive. However, the children manage to outwit the elderly, taking advantage of the general weakness of pensioners for the restaurant "Village Kitchen". Weakened pensioners are not able to resist the authorities, and the previous order is being restored.
Parodies
- The title and some scenes of the episode mimic the 1984 action movie Red Dawn .
- The events of the episode refer to a real incident that happened in California in 2003 : an 86-year-old man, having mixed up the brake and gas pedals, drove into a tent market by car and, after driving about 300 meters, killed 10 and injured about 60 people. In 2004, he was acquitted in court.
- At the very beginning, during the funeral, Cartman says, “Mostly hippies go to farmer's markets. Mostly ”( Russian. Usually hippies go to farmers' markets. Usually ). This phrase is a revised version of “They usually come at night. Usually ”from the movie“ Aliens ”; in the episode of the third season, “ Cat's Orgy, ” Cartman watches this film and repeatedly repeats similar phrases.
- During the scene in the pond, when the pensioner's car “crushes” the boatman’s water, the music from the movie “ Jaws ” sounds.
- One of the participants in the old man's riot, standing on a watchtower, pronounces the phrase "We have guests." The next moment, the US military appears. This moment is like a scene from the movie “ Air Prison ”.
- In the scene of the cancellation of the driver's license of all the old people of South Park, in one of the frames you can see a table for checking visual acuity; the letters of the fourth line of this table are added to the word NUMBAONE ( English distortion. Number one ).
- During a meeting of old people, Stan's grandfather pronounces the phrase “I don’t know about you, but I am mad as hell” (one of the participants says “We're not gonna take it anymore ”(“ We won’t tolerate this anymore ”). This is a reference to the film The Network, where the main character speaks the same words, or to the Twisted Sister song - “We're not gonna take it”.
- When Randy opens the closet and the corpse hangs from there, it's a parody of the movie Halloween.
