Diocese History

 

The diocese is the successor to the Vrsack diocese founded in the 16th century, which, due to the transfer of the department, was also called Sebes (and Caransebes ) [1] .

In 1931, the parishes of the Temishvar diocese located in the Serbian part of Banat were united with the Vrsack diocese into the Banat diocese [2] .

  • Mesic Monastery - located in the city of Vrsac , founded in the 15th century (according to legend, in 1225 ).
  • Wojlovica Monastery - located in Pancevo , founded during the reign of Stefan Lazarevich .
  • Holy Trinity Monastery - located in the city of Kikinda .
  • Monastery of St. Melania - located in Zrenjanin , founded in 1935 by Bishop George (Letich) .
  • Bavaniste Monastery - in Kovin . Founded in the 15th century, destroyed in 1716 , then rebuilt in 1996 .
  • Gaiduczyca Monastery - in Plandishte , founded in 1939 .
