Biography
Pyotr Aleksandrovich Talyzin was born on January 17, 1767 in the family of Alexander Fedorovich Talyzin and Maria Stepanovna Apraksina . Grandson of Field Marshal S.F. Apraksin , cousin of Princes Alexander and Alexei Kurakin .
Peter Talyzin was educated with his brother Stepan at the Higher School of the Duke Karl-Eugene ( German: Hohe Karlsschule ) in Stuttgart .
Since January 1, 1784, he served as the ensign of the Izmailovsky regiment . In 1785, Talyzin was promoted to second lieutenant , in 1787 - on a lieutenant , on January 1, 1789 - on a captain-lieutenant, and in 1791 - on a captain .
Peter Talyzin was the first to congratulate Paul on his accession to the throne and was awarded the Order of St. Anne [1] . On August 11, 1797, he was promoted to major general , and on April 15, 1799, to lieutenant general. Since May 4, 1799, he commanded the Preobrazhensky regiment .
Talyzin was among the conspirators on the recommendation of Nikita Petrovich Panin ; in turn, Talyzin himself ordained the officers of the Preobrazhensky regiment Argamakov and S. N. Marina [2] . From the apartment of Talyzin [3] in the Life Campus building of the Winter Palace on the evening of March 11, 1801, forty conspirators went to Mikhailovsky Castle . Talyzin personally led the Preobrazhensky battalion to the castle, where they occupied all the entrances and exits. Peter Talyzin did not directly participate in the murder of Paul.
Peter Talyzin died two months after these events - May 11 (23), 1801 . The day before his death, in a letter to the emperor Alexander asked to share his inheritance in equal shares between brother and sisters. All this gave rise to a version of Suicide of Talyzin among contemporaries. He was buried at the Lazarevsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra .
