The women's individual biathlon race at the 2010 Winter Olympics was held on February 18 .
The race took place in the Whistler Olympic Park from 10:30 to 11:45 local time ( UTC-8 ).
The Olympic champion of Turin 2006 in this type of program, Russian Svetlana Ishmuratova, completed her career and did not perform. In January 2010, bronze medalist Albina Akhatova was disqualified for two years for doping and was unable to take part in the race. Silver medalist Martina Beck (in Turin playing under the maiden name Glagov) performed and took 29th place. The 2002 Olympic champion Andrea Henkel also performed in the race in this race and finished in sixth place.
Anne Christine Flatland, the leader after the first shooting, missed on the second firing line, then on the third, and eventually took 14th place. After the second firing line, Tur Berger , who went under the second number, was confidently in the lead, which, despite even a miss at the last shooting, remained out of competition and became the Olympic champion. The distribution of prizes was not clear until the very last moment, while Veronika Novakovskaya , who had gone without a slip at number 71, had not received a penalty minute at the last shooting range, and as a result she came to the finish line fifth, with a half-minute lag from third place. The second with a delay of 20 seconds from the champion was Elena Khrustalyova , the third, behind another 8 seconds with one miss - Daria Domracheva. Kati Wilhelm (fourth place) and Novakovskaya lagged behind her for half a minute. For all three winners, this is the first Olympic medal.
