Character Description
Appearance
Since its inception, Minnie reflected the trends of the youth culture of that time, in particular, the love of red. Despite this, it was assumed that she should appear in blue and green outfits. In the early black-and-white cartoons of Iverks she has a large rectangular patch on linen over the tail.
In 1940, Minnie's outfit was revised: a big bow replaced the hat on her head, and even small bows appeared on the shoes. Her eyes also became more distinct. During the forties and fifties, her appearance was conservative. In everyday life, Minnie wears a red dress and a red bow with white polka dots and yellow shoes. Minnie wore many swimsuits, but the most common and elegant in her is a red separate swimsuit with a skirt and a red bow with white polka dots.
Pet
In some of the cartoons and episodes of the Mickey Mouse Club, Minnie has a pet - a kitten named Figaro, first appeared in the Pinocchio cartoon.
History
First appearance
In 1928, Walt Disney and Ab Iverx created Mickey Mouse as a replacement for Rabbit Oswald. But Mickey could not be alone. Among the few traits of Oswald's character was his desire for love. Thus, to imitate his predecessor in flirting, Mickey Mouse needed a lover. She became Minnie Mouse.
For the first time Minnie Mouse appeared in the cartoon " Mad Plane ". In the story, Mickey Mouse invited Minnie to join his first flight on an airplane. She accepted the invitation, but refused Mickey when he offered her a kiss in the middle of the flight. This cartoon showed Minnie Mouse as quite resistant to the manifestations of the love of her beloveds.
1928-1940
The next cartoon, in which Mickey and Minnie participated, was “The Gallopin 'Gaucho” ( Gallop on an ostrich ). Minnie is located in the bar and restaurant “Cantina Argentina”, located in “Pampas of Argentina”. She performs tango for Mickey, who plays the role of a gaucho, and Pete, who is outlawed. Both are flirting with her, but Pete kidnaps her. Mickey Mouse frees her from the villain. All three characters were depicted as if they had met in a cartoon for the first time.
The third animated film with Mickey and Minnie Mouse became “The Willie Steamer ”. Pete was the captain of the steamer, Mickey was the crew, and Minnie was the passenger. Two anthropomorphic mice were the first stars of the sound cartoons. Most of the cartoon they played music, the melody of which resembled " Turkey in the Straw ".
The next animated film in which Minnie participated was Mickey's Foolies ( Mickey Foolishness ). For the first time, the cartoon featured the tune “Minnie's Yoo Hoo”. The song subsequently became a musical theme for many cartoons with Mickey Mouse.
The last appearance of Mickey Mouse on the screen in 1929 was associated with the cartoon "Wild Waves" ( Stormy Waves ). Strong waves dragged Minnie into the sea. She panicked, and seemed to be beginning to sink. Mickey saved her, but Minnie hasn't recovered from the shock. Mickey Mouse, trying to cheer her up, began to hum the motive of the sea ballad “Rocked in the Cradle of the Deep”. The story ends with the return of a good mood to Minnie Mouse. It was the second, but not the last cartoon in which Minnie was in danger and was saved by Mickey Mouse.
In the second half of the 1930s, Minnie began to appear less frequently on the screen. This is due to the growing popularity of Mickey's new friends, Goofy and Donald Duck , who partially replaced Minnie Mouse. The number of her appearances in the short cartoons with Mickey Mouse has decreased, but, nevertheless, she played several major roles in the cartoons about Pluto and the kitten Figaro.
Late years
The original return of Minnie Mouse to the screen occurred in 1983, when she played the role of Emily Cratchit in the cartoon The Christmas Story of Mickey . She also played a small cameo in the cartoon Who Framed Roger Rabbit .
In 2004, the cartoon “ Three Musketeers: Mickey, Donald, Goofy ” was released, in which Minnie Mouse participated. She played the princess of France, whose beloved was the musketeer, Mickey Mouse. Interestingly, in this cartoon, Minnie is presented with bangs that are not found in later Disney films.
Currently, Minnie appears in every episode of the animated series " Mickey Mouse Club ".
