History
The Transport Publishing House of the USSR Council of Ministers State Committee for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade was established in December 1964 in Moscow by merging publishing houses [1] :
- All-Union Publishing and Printing Association of the Ministry of Railways of the USSR "TransZhelDorIzdat" (founded in 1923 ),
- Railway book store;
- Avtotransizdat Publishing House of the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade (founded in 1953 ),
- Publishing House "Sea Transport" of the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade (founded in 1954 ),
- The River Transport Publishing House of the USSR Council of Ministers State Committee for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade (founded in 1954 ).
Then he was assigned the code "049" of the State Committee of the USSR Council of Ministers for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade.
FSUE Transport Publishing House is the successor to the Transport Publishing House of the USSR Council of Ministers State Committee for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade in accordance with Order No. 187 of the Ministry of Press and Mass Media of the RSFSR of November 4, 1991 and Order No. 89 of the Press Committee of the Russian Federation dated July 08, 1996.
"Transport" was one of the central publishing houses in the system of the USSR State Committee for Publications. Issued scientific, technical and industrial literature on rail, road, aviation, sea, river and city transport, on the problems of the coordinated development of various modes of transport as components of a single transport system , as well as popular science and reference books, information publications for passengers, textbooks and teaching aids for higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, technical schools, and distance learning networks. By order of transport organizations, printed forms of transportation documents, travel tickets, service schedules, train schedules, catalogs, advertising and information materials and regulatory documents. Publishing offices in large administrative centers of the USSR carried out book trade at transport enterprises. Annually issued over 1200 titles of various publications with a total circulation of more than 20 million copies. .

After the perestroika and the collapse of the USSR, the publishing house also began to publish popular literature in the genre of science fiction and fantasy . It published the popular series Monsters of the Universe - one of the first book series in the CIS , in which the reader could get acquainted with the best masterpieces of world fiction .
Current status
The latest published financial statements of the publisher are for 2016, later not published and not submitted to the tax office. For 2019, the publisher has significant financial obligations, its bank accounts are blocked [2] .
In 2018, the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation discovered the loss of state ownership assigned to FSUE Transport Publishing House (one of the buildings was demolished in 2011, the plot became private property) and sent an appeal to the Prosecutor's Office [3] .
In 2018−2019 civil and administrative lawsuits were filed against the publisher, including for non-payment of utilities and tax payments. The defendant did not appear at the court hearings [4] , most of the claims (55%) were satisfied [2] . In 2019, one lawsuit is pending in court [4] .
In 2018, the Bailiffs Service carried out enforcement proceedings No. 2194886/18/77043-IP dated July 2, 2018 on the collection of taxes, during which it became clear that the location of the management and property of the publishing house is unknown [5] .
The publisher’s brand store has not been operating since February 2018. One of the authors who sold his books through it announced the loss of a large amount of money due to the sudden closure of the store and publicly accused the head of Transport publishing house of embezzlement [6] .
