He studied medicine at the University of Erfurt ( him. Universität Erfurt ), where in 1748 he received a degree . After that, he became the personal doctor of the Bishop of Poznan, Theodore Casimir Czartoryski . He remained the personal doctor of the bishop until his death in 1768. In 1769, Wolf opened a private practice in Tczew , and in 1772 - in Danzig , where he worked the rest of his life.
In 1777, he was elected a member of the Royal Society of London .
