Content
Biological DescriptionWhite tinted flowers with brown-red, similar to Paphinia neudeckeri , differ in structural details, in particular in Paphinia benzingii narrower apical petals.
Range, environmental featuresNorthwest Ecuador , Esmeraldas Province, 12th kilometer of the Lita San Lorenzo road.
The described plants were collected at an altitude of about 750 meters above sea level.
Plants are found in the places where Paphinia hirtzii and Paphinia litensis grow . Accordingly, they have similar environmental features. The species lives in very humid conditions (more than 6000 mm of rainfall).
EtymologyThe plant is named after Dr. David Benzing, a biologist and plant collector from the University of Oberlin ( Ohio , USA ).
