Biography
Born on August 17, 1922 in the Arpachin farm of the Bagaevsky district in a peasant family. Russian
He lived in the city of Rostov-on-Don . He graduated from high school. He worked as a locksmith in a factory.
In the Soviet Army since 1941 . He graduated from the Tomsk Artillery School in 1942 . In the army since 1942.
During the Battle of Kursk, the platoon commander of the 540th Light Artillery Regiment ( 16th Light Artillery Brigade , 4th Artillery Corps , 13th Army , Central Front ) Junior Lieutenant V.V. Skrylev distinguished himself in battles on July 5–9 , 1943 years in the vicinity of the railway station Ponyri ( Kursk region ). In defensive battles, the platoon destroyed 5 machine gun points, 2 mortar batteries, and a large number of enemy infantry. On July 9, 1943, the platoon repelled 8 enemy attacks. When the entire crew was out of order, the second lieutenant himself stood at the gun and destroyed 2 tanks . A fragment of the shell tore his hand off, a gunner died, severely wounded the castle. Nevertheless, Skrylyov continued to fire, firing at tanks point-blank. When the attack was repelled, he lost consciousness [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 7, 1943 for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in the struggle against the German invaders,” junior lieutenant Skrylyov Viktor Vasilyevich was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal No. 5999 [2] .
In addition to him, for the battles in the Ponyrovsky direction on July 7–8, 1943, this title was given to artillerymen of the 540th light artillery regiment, Sergeant Major Konstantin Sedov , sergeant Alexei Sapunov , and also commander of the 76-mm gun from the 307th division, Corporal Kuzma Zuev . The 16th light artillery brigade of the 5th artillery division, which included the 540th light artillery regiment, was awarded the guards rank, and all its regiments also became guards and red flags. In general, the gunners showed massive heroism in the defense of their positions, blocking the development of breakthroughs of German tanks. Of the 232 soldiers and officers who received the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union for their exploits in the Battle of Kursk, 83 people (36%) were gunners, 60 were arrows of infantry and motorized units, including four armor-fighting soldiers of anti-tank rifle divisions (26%), 54 - pilots (23%), 27 - tankers (12%) [3] .

He died on April 9, 1979, was buried in the city of Rostov-on-Don .
