Hafez Abdel Halim Shabana - (Arabic: عبدالحليم إسماعيل شبانة ) is known as Abdel Halim Hafez (Arabic: عبد الحليم حافظ ) ( June 21, 1929 - March 30, 1977 ), was one of the most popular Egyptians not only in Egypt and but throughout the Middle East from the 1950s to the 1970s.

He is one of the four 'great people' of Egyptian and Arabic music. His voice and music still play and sound daily on the radio in Egypt and the Arab world. His name was El Andalib El Asmar, which literally means “dark nightingale” in Arabic (Arabic: العندليب الأسمر ). Throughout the world, he is known as the " Arabic (Arabian) Elvis ."
