Biography
Father is the younger brother of the White Guard General A.P. Kutepov , so the surname was given by mother. The place of birth was changed during the war to the city of Pushkin , Leningrad Region, to hide the fact of birth during the exile of the father. The family never lived in Pushkin . In 1936, Sventsitskaya entered Leningrad school No. 7. During the blockade of Leningrad, until July 1942, she was in the besieged city, then was evacuated to Saratov . In September 1943, the mother of I.S. Sventsitskaya died, and in December she returned to Leningrad to her aunt. In 1946, Sventsitskaya graduated from school number 33 with a silver medal. Then she entered the Faculty of History of Leningrad State University and graduated with honors.
Since September 1951 - graduate student of the Department of Ancient History of the same faculty. In 1954 she defended her thesis on the topic " Land holdings of the cities of western Asia Minor in the III — I centuries. BC e. "(Supervisor - K. M. Kolobova ) [2] .
After defending her dissertation, Sventsitskaya moved to Moscow and from November 1954 began teaching at the Moscow Correspondence Pedagogical University as an assistant. In 2006, the work “The Fates of the Apostles: Myths and Reality” was awarded the international literary prize “ Bronze Icarus ” as the best popular science work [2] .
I.S.Sventsitskaya belonged to the Soviet historical school, which allowed the historicity of Jesus as a real religious preacher (in contrast to the mythological school ). So, in the afterword to the book of the Polish writer and researcher Zenon Kosidowski “Tales of the Evangelists” she writes:
... The accumulation of new material (in particular, the discovery of Qumran manuscripts, papyrus fragments of the gospels, analysis of the general laws of myth-making) prompted some Soviet scholars to raise the question of the possible historical existence of Jesus - a preacher from Galilee ( A. P. Kazhdan , I. D. Amusin , M. . M. Kublanov , as well as the author of these lines) ", however," recognition of the reality of the prototype for the image of Jesus Christ does not change our ideas about the mythological nature of the main New Testament legends.
