Group History
The band was founded in 1991 by guitarist Terry Savastano. The composition of the group was unstable, changing from rehearsal to rehearsal. The first EP was recorded in 1992 as part of: Jeff Hayward - vocals, Randy Odierno - bass, Pete Cassin - drums, Jay Stiles and Terry Savastano - on the positions of guitarists. After recording a split with Dystopia , Grief staged a tour of the western United States, immediately after which most of the group went to Europe as part of the Disrupt band. After the European tour, Disrupt fell apart and, after that, Pete Cassin and Jay Stiles left Grief. Rick Johnson became the new drummer and, in 1994, the team recorded the full-length album “Come to Grief”, after which the band joined the guitarist Steve Nelson, who had not been in the band for long but managed to record with 3 EP. Concluding a contract with Pessimiser Records, the band released the album “Miserably Ever After”. The group gave many concerts, followed by another split, after which Rick Johnson left the band. A new drummer could not be found and his place was taken by bassist Randy Odierno, while Eric C. Harrison was put in the position of bass player. However, after recording the album “Torso”, Randy Odierno left the team. As the new drummer Tim Morse from Anal Cunt was approved, however, right before the next round, he left, leaving the group to perform three of them. Grief did not abandon the tour, Jeff Hayward - performed simultaneously as a vocalist and drummer. After the tour, for the drums, Grief sat down Chuck Conlon, with whom the group recorded their last album “and Man will Become the Hunted”, but a year later he left the group. In 1999, Rick Johnson returned and in 2000 the band made their last tour. In 2001, the Grief team broke up. The main reason, according to the founder of the group Terry Savastano, was the constant problems with the composition and the eternal search for drummers. In 2005, the band reunited to play several shows, and in 2006 the album “Alive” was released - a recording of Grief's New England Grind And Doom Fest. At the end of 2008, it is planned to start new tours with the Trap Them band. After a tour of America and Europe, the group again announced the breakup.
