He recorded 6 solo albums while still being part of Blur . In the fall of 2001, Coxon went to a rehabilitation center to be treated for alcoholism. He managed to take a little part in recording the next album of Think Tank , but other musicians complained that it was hard to work with him. In the end, manager Chris Morrison asked him not to come to the studio; Coxon in 2002 left the group altogether. In 2008, after talking with Damon Albarn, he returned to Blur.
In 2008, Blur reunited. In 2009, a concert tour was held.
He has a daughter, Papper.
In 2011, Fender launched the Telecaster Coxon nameplate.
