In the Red Army since 1932. In 1935 he graduated from the Ordzhonikidze Infantry School and cavalry advanced training courses for commanders in 1941. By the beginning of the war he was a captain in the 34th Cavalry Regiment of the 3rd Cavalry Division under the command of Major General MF Maleev [1] .

On the fronts of World War II, Captain Visaitov from June 1941 [2] . Distinguished in the first battles. In the battle of Cirdan ( Western Ukraine ) July 18 - 22, 1941, the squadron received an order for an offensive. Despite the fire, the squadron commander Visaitov personally raised the squadron to the attack, shot down the outposts and penetrated the enemy's defenses. In the following days, the squadron thrice repelled the attacks of the Germans. In these battles, Captain Visaitov showed personal courage and was wounded. For valor and courage he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner [3] .

Returning to service after being wounded, he was appointed commander of a separate reconnaissance battalion of the rifle division commanded by Colonel S. I. Gorshkov [4] .

255th Cavalry Regiment

A group of Chechen and Ingush officers appealed to the government to recruit volunteers from among the residents of the Chechen- Ingush Republic [5] . The 255th separate Chechen-Ingush cavalry regiment was formed . The commander of the regiment was appointed Major Yaponts Abadiyev [6] , chief of staff - Major Mavlid Visaitov [7] [5] . However, on May 13, 1942, instead of Abadiyev, who received a new appointment, Mavlid Visaitov was appointed the regimental commander [8] .

From the very beginning of the Battle of Stalingrad the regiment took an active part in it. He was included in the operational group of General V.I. Chuikov (as part of the 64th Army under the command of Major General M.S. Shumilov ), operating on the distant approaches to Stalingrad . On August 3, 1942, a regiment covering the withdrawal of Soviet troops was attacked by units of the 78th German Tank Corps of the 4th Panzer Army near the city of Kotelnikovo ( Volgograd Region ). During the battle, four tanks were shot down and dozens of fascists destroyed. The regiment suffered heavy losses in personnel. Under the pressure of superior enemy forces, supported by aviation , the regiment was forced to retreat [9] .

In the course of further battles at Stalingrad, the regiment suffered heavy losses. As the enemy advanced far into the North Caucasus , there was no opportunity to replenish it from Chechnya-Ingushetia. Therefore, the command decided to create two reconnaissance cavalry divisions from the remnants of the regiment and infuse them into the 4th cavalry corps under the command of Lieutenant General T.T. Shapkina [10] .

28th Guards Cavalry Regiment

Brikel , during the offensive from April 27, 1945 in the vanguard of the division in cooperation with tank and artillery regiments broke through the enemy's defenses near the town of Schwedt ( Germany ), captured the Hammelpring settlement and the town of Reinsberg .

In just two months of fighting, the regiment destroyed, captured and disabled 2340 German soldiers and officers. He shot down and destroyed 7 tanks, 6 self-propelled guns, 8 heavy machine guns, 6 transporters, one minbattery, 3 guns, 6 light machine guns, one boat and many other military equipment and gear. Battle trophies of the regiment make up the whole arsenal of weapons of the enemy rifle regiment.

Horse guardsmen freed tens of thousands of Soviet people and our allies from German slavery. For two months of stubborn and bloody battles in East Prussia and Pomerania, the rank and file, sergeants and officers of the regiment, like the entire division and corps, received four thanks to the High Command, 615 soldiers, sergeants and officers were awarded government orders and medals [11] ...

The regiment fought 160-170 km, defeated up to two regiments of the enemy, captured 50 settlements and destroyed a lot of manpower and equipment of the enemy. For these military successes, the regiment was awarded the Order of the Red Banner [12] .

By the end of May 2, 1945, the regiment reached the Elbe River and north of the city of Wittenberg was among the first to meet Anglo-American troops [13] . Mavlid Visaitov was the first Soviet officer to shake hands with General Bolling, who commanded the advanced American units. US President Harry Truman Visaitov was introduced to the Legion of Honor [14] .

After the war

He was introduced to the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in June 1945, but was awarded the Order of Lenin . In total, he presented himself to the title of Hero three times [15] .

Since 1946, Lieutenant Colonel Visaitov in stock. He lived in the city of Grozny . He is the author of the book From Terek to Elba. Memories of the former commander of the Guards regiment of the military path during the Great Patriotic War ", which was published in Grozny in 1966 [12] .

He died on May 23, 1986. Buried in the village Nadterechnoe . Posthumously, on May 5, 1990 he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union .

Interesting fact

Visaitov once sat in the company of fellow villagers on the banks of the Terek for barbecue. His companions talked about the events of World War II. The conversation gradually turned into statements that the awards were given not according to merit, but depending on the proximity to the authorities, that the soldiers always thought only of their own salvation and the feats allegedly committed on the front was an invention designed to justify receiving awards.

Visaitov lay by the fire and listened in silence. Then he took out his TT award pistol , took out the cartridges from it and threw them into the fire. The interlocutors instantly tar and, after a short confusion, began to back away from the fire. Cartridges rushed one after the other. Men screamed along the coast, after each shot falling to the ground and trying to hide in the folds of the terrain. Only Visaitov did not change his posture. The last shot died down and the sober drinking companions gathered around the fire. In the silence, Visaitov briefly dropped: “That was exactly the same at the front” [16] .
