Project History
The exhibition “Russian Poor” was planned as a pilot project of the Museum of Modern Art , which at the initiative of Sergey Gordeev should be created in Perm. According to the senator, the museum will become a "motor", which will give a new impetus to the development of the city [1] . The exhibition was organized in a “ruined” and specially renovated building of the River Station (architect Alexander Grinberg , 1940) [2] .
The name of the exhibition refers to the term arte povera or Poor art , formulated by Italian art critic Germano Chelant, chief curator of the Museum of Modern Art Solomon R. Guggenheim . Now this term is used to denote a certain artistic movement of Italian artists of the second half of the 1960s - 1970s .
From September 25 to October 25, 2009, the Russian Poor project was exhibited at the Krasny Oktyabr factory ( Moscow , Bersenevskaya Embankment ) as part of the Third Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art .
