Biography

In the years 1924-1925. studied at the Lysenko Kiev Institute of Music, then moved to Leningrad and entered the Leningrad Conservatory , studied composition under the guidance of Mikhail Chernov and Vladimir Shcherbachev . Already in 1927, Voloshinov began to teach the theory of music in schools, and after graduating from the graduate school of the conservatory in 1932, he was accepted into it as a teacher of composition (since 1935, assistant professor, since 1952 professor). In 1947 he defended his thesis on "The principles of harmonization of Russian folk songs in connection with the peculiarities of its modal structure." In 1948, after Shcherbachev was removed from the post of head of the composition department, Voloshinov was appointed to this position. Among his students are some well-known Leningrad composers of subsequent generations, including Boris Tishchenko .

He was buried at the Theological Cemetery in St. Petersburg.
