Don State Agrarian University ( Donskoy State Agrarian University , formerly Don Agricultural Institute) is the oldest and one of the largest universities in the south of Russia, located on the territory of the Rostov region.

In 2014, Novocherkassk State Land Reclamation Academy and Azov-Black Sea State Agroengineering Academy were attached to the university [1] . On the basis of Donskoy State Agrarian University, a unified university has been established that produces specialists for the agro-industrial complex and related industries.
In the operational management of the university are 313 buildings and structures with a total area of over 316.4 thousand square meters, of which teaching and laboratory - 203.2 thousand square meters. The total land area is 8031.55 ha.
In the National ranking of universities of the Russian Federation (published by the IAA "Russia Today" in December 2018), Don State Agrarian University ranks fifth in the nomination "Agricultural universities" [2] . In the ranking of the international information group "Interfax" (published in June 2019), the university ranks ninth among the agricultural universities of Russia, while leading in the category "Socialization" and ranks third in the category "Research".
Content
History
Don State Agrarian University dates back to 1840. Then, on the outskirts of Warsaw, a veterinary school was opened, transformed into a higher educational institution - a veterinary institute, which was transferred to Novocherkassk during the First World War. In parallel, in the village of Persianovskaya, from 1907, an agronomical educational institution was successfully developed.
In 1962, after a series of reforms and renames, the veterinarian and agronomic institutes were merged into the Don Agricultural Institute (ARIN) in the village of Persianovskaya. In 1993, he received university status for university.
During the years of its existence, the Don State Agrarian University has prepared more than 130 thousand specialists who have made a significant contribution to the development of Russian agricultural science and production. For merits in the preparation of highly qualified personnel for agriculture by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 10/27/1966, the university was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. Professor Panteleimon Efimovich Ladan was appointed rector of the joint institute in 1962 [4] .
In 1980, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Stepanov became Rector of the AGRI.
In 2002, Anatoly Ivanovich Baranikov became rector of Donskoy State Agrarian University .
Since September 2013, Alexander Ivanovich Klimenko has been the rector of Donskoy State Agrarian University .
Activity
The Don State Agrarian University is a large regional center of agricultural education, which trains specialists in educational programs of higher, secondary vocational and additional vocational education, conducts research [5] [6] [7] [8] , and makes a significant contribution to the development of the economy and science , technology and technology of the agro-industrial complex of the Rostov region, the Southern Federal District and the Russian Federation as a whole.
The university has three dissertation councils for the defense of doctoral and master's theses:

At the university, taking into account branches, more than 10,000 students are enrolled. One of the priorities of the university in the field of education is the development of practice-oriented training in collaboration with large agricultural enterprises and research centers [9] [10] . Among the partners of the educational institution are agricultural holdings Miratorg, Yug Rusi, Steppe, a group of agricultural enterprises Resource, LLC Agrokom Group, AO Agrokompleks them. N.I. Tkachev, MCC "Eurochem", the company "Rostselmash" and "Bryanskselmash", other leaders of the agricultural sector of Russia. In addition, students undergo practical training in agricultural enterprises of European countries - Germany, France.
More than 500 foreign citizens from 13 countries (data as of 01/01/2019), including non-CIS countries - the Republic of Zambia, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, are trained in Donskoy State Agrarian University. A preparatory department for foreign applicants works on the basis of the branch of the university, in which students are trained in the Russian language and specialized disciplines.
The Institute of Continuing Education (INO) of the Donskoy State Agrarian University provides training on advanced training programs, professional retraining programs, vocational training programs and additional general development programs. More than 4 thousand students use the additional educational services provided by INO each year, most of whom are employees of the agro-industrial complex [11] .
