Sharyinskaya CHPP is a thermal power plant ( cogeneration plant ) located in the village of Vetluzhsky, Sharya city district, Kostroma region . Previously, it was part of TGK-2 PJSC, since 2014 it has been transferred to municipal ownership. It uses peat as the main fuel. It is the main source of thermal energy in Sharya .

History
The construction of the Sharya CHPP began in 1962, the launch of the first unit took place in 1965. A thermal power plant was built to provide thermal and electric energy to the Sharyadrev wood processing enterprise (currently Kronostar LLC and Timber Industrial Complex LLC), and subsequently to heat the city of Sharya and the village of Vetluzhsky .
During the reform of RAO UES of Russia, the Sharyinskaya CHPP together with the Kostroma CHPP-1 and CHPP-2 became part of the Territorial Generation Company No. 2 .
Due to the fact that the city of Sharya is not gasified, peat and expensive fuel oil have been used as the main fuel of the TPP since commissioning. The decommissioning of an economically inefficient plant is difficult due to the lack of substitute heat sources. For several years, TGK-2 unsuccessfully tried to realize a loss-making thermal power station, in 2014 the thermal power station and the main and quarter heating networks connected to it were donated to the city. According to the decision of the Arbitration Court, the city administration is obliged to pay 142 million rubles in favor of the previous owner for the losses associated with the ban on decommissioning of the CHPP [1] .
Current situation
The Sharya CHPP operates simultaneously with the UES of Russia as part of the Kostroma energy system, which, in turn, is part of the Center’s integrated energy system (UES). The installed electric capacity of the Sharya CHPP at the end of 2015 was 21 MW (or 0.6% of the total capacity of power plants in the Kostroma region), the installed heat capacity was 388 Gcal / h (including 161 Gcal / h from turbine withdrawals). The generation of electric energy in 2015 amounted to 21.7 million kW , h , the useful supply of thermal energy - 132.9 thousand Gcal [2] . The calculated heat load is 108.4 Gcal / h [3] .
Sharyinskaya CHPP provides combined heat and power generation, supplies heat energy to the district heating system of the city of Sharya and the village of Vetluzhsky .
Sharya CHP is a steam power CHP with cross-links, with a fresh vapor pressure of 35 atm. The main equipment of the station includes [2] :
- 6 steam boilers :
- 4 boilers operating on peat, such as TP-35-39U and T-35-40, with a single steam capacity of 35 t / h from 1964-1973 commissioning;
- 2 boilers operating on fuel oil, type BKZ-75-39 with a single steam capacity of 75 t / h, 1975-1976 commissioning;
- 3 backpressure steam turbines :
- two types of PR-6-35 with a capacity of 3 and 6 MW 1965-1966 commissioning;
- one type R-12-35 / 5 with a capacity of 12 MW 1979 commissioning;
- 2 hot water boilers of the type KVGM-100 with a unit capacity of 100 Gcal / h.
One of the KVGM-100 boilers and BKZ-75-39 fuel oil boilers are in a long reserve and require restoration work [3] .
The main fuel of the station is milled peat , imported mainly from the Kirov region , and heating oil (the latter including for lighting and firing peat in furnaces) [3] . The Sharya CHPP is one of the least economical power plants in the region: the specific consumption of equivalent fuel for the supply of electric energy in 2015 amounted to 532 g.t. per kWh [2] .
Various options for the reconstruction of the Sharya CHPP [3] , as well as the possibility of decommissioning with the construction of small replacement quarterly boiler houses using gas (subject to gasification of the city) or wood waste [1] are being considered .
