The family of a resident of Romelli-sur-Seine (France), Emile Camuset, has been engaged in weaving for several generations, and in 1882 they opened their own knitwear workshop in which his son, also named Emile, studied craft and trade.
The younger Emil was never just a master, in his heart he was an avid athlete who, step by step, achieved results in gymnastics, in cycling, which was considered a “luxury sport” in football. After some time, Emil took an administrative position in the city sports club "Etoile Sport", where he was responsible for providing uniforms and equipment to club members. And by 1920, in addition to standard models, Kamuse began to produce sports clothing lines, changing the cut for a better fit.
From that moment on, the reputation of Emil Camuse's workshop did not stop growing. In the early 30s, he sewed models for official suppliers of the French teams in football, basketball, rugby and the athletics federation. Various stripes, stripes, colorful shades and a checkered pattern - in his workshop any designs and intricate patterns of models could be sewn.
The growing popularity of the sporting leisure activity pushed Kamuse to create fashionable clothes for the first active leisure enthusiasts. Thus, polo, sweaters, t-shirts, tops appeared in the collection.
Production stopped only during the war. But already in 1951, the reviving company received a prestigious order - leotards for the Tour de France. Twelve teams of 10 cyclists each were outfitted.
A few years earlier, on the initiative of Roland Camuset, the son of Emil, another important event for the brand took place - the birth of a rooster logo . But at least 15 years passed before the cockerel could move from the label on the collar to his chest and become a fetish. Thus began the golden age of the brand.
The brand became a partner of the largest international federations and many famous champions of France and the world at that time. In Moscow, Le Coq Sportif first appeared on the form of the French national football team in 1955 . The symbol of Le Coq Sportif triumphantly flaunted on the chest of the champions of the Tour de France , the World Cup, the Five Nations Rugby Tournament, the Olympic Games and tennis tournaments.
In the early 70s, Le Coq Sportif won a peculiar media victory - it was the first sports brand advertised on television. A French brand with 125 years of history, once the No. 1 sports brand in Europe, Le Coq Sportif almost disappeared at the end of the 20th century, but now the brand is reborn under the guidance of a professional and passionate team.
In 2010, the new Le Coq Sportif research center was opened. It was especially significant that it was located in Romelli-sur-Seine - the city where it all began. Thus, the company management stressed that it does not forget its roots. They themselves call this event "a bridge between the past and the future, between the simplicity of the very first models and the latest technologies of the latest developments."
Since 2012, the brand has again become an official partner of the Tour de France cycling race. T-shirts for the winners of the races were released, as well as the Tour de France capsule collection for sale at Le Coq Sportif boutiques. [one]
