Alcohol surrogates

Alkol surrogates are various liquids that are not intended for internal use, but, nevertheless, are used instead of alcoholic beverages [1] (including due to the availability and lower price [2] ). Depending on the composition, they can cause significant harm to health. The use of surrogates is typical for the late stages of alcoholism .

Types of Surrogates

  • Low-hazard: colognes , lotions , non-food ethyl alcohol . Medicines containing ethyl alcohol ( tinctures of hawthorn , motherwort and others).
  • Moderately hazardous: technical liquids based on ethyl alcohol.
  • Very dangerous: methyl alcohol , ethylene glycol , dichloroethane , gasoline , dichlorvos and liquids containing them.
