Scientific activity
Kohn's main works are devoted to the simplest microscopic plants, algae, and fungi. In the scientific works of Kohn, questions on their morphology, development history and systematics are considered. Cohn first carried bacteria to plants. He was interested in the resistance of bacteria to temperature stress, discovered endospores. Together with Robert Koch took part in the study of anthrax .
Since 1870, Cohn has been publishing a magazine: “ Beiträge zur Biologie der Pflanzen ”, where he published some of his works, for example, about the organisms of Volvox .
In the years 1872-1875, Cohn published his research on bacteria in the work “ Neue Untersuchungen über Bacterien ”, in which he studied the systematic and biological characteristics of these organisms, trying to find out their role in fermentation, decay, and the development of epidemic diseases.
