Symphony No. 10 in A minor for string orchestra op. 98 Moses Weinberg composed in 1968 .
Created specifically for the Moscow Chamber Orchestra , to which it is dedicated. In the first part of the symphony there is a part of the solo cello (written for the cellist A. E. Vasiliev ), in the second and fifth parts - solo violins , viola , cello and double bass .
Weinberg's symphony in its own way interprets the traditions of the baroque (and resurrected in the 20th century ) concerto grosso genre, which is manifested in the peculiar “dialogues” of the ensemble of soloists and string orchestra.
