Kafr al-Zayyat [1] [2] ( Arabic. كفر الزيات ) is the city and center of the district in the governorate of Garbia in Egypt .

It is located in the west of the governorship, 14 km west of the center of the governorship of Tanta , on the right bank of the main western arm of the Nile ( Rashid ), almost exactly between Cairo and Alexandria . Kafr ez-Zayyat is also located on the Cairo-Alexandria highway. Railroad station. The population of the city is 72,998 people ( 2006 ) [3] . The industry is represented by the production of fertilizers, paper and cardboard, insecticides, oils, soaps, and the chemical industry.
District
About 500,000 people live in the Kafr al-Zayyat region (2007). Area 1230 km². The proportion of illiterates over the age of 15 years is 19%.
