The Koleos concept car was shown in the media back in February 2000. It was also introduced as a concept car in 2006 at the Paris Motor Show , by the way the concept car was completely identical to the production model.
The production version of the Renault Koleos debuted at the Geneva international auto show in March 2008. At the same time, two of his competitors were introduced - Citroën C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007 . Sales in Europe started in August 2008, in Russia in the fall of 2008.
Koleos was an addition to the Renault crossover class. Before it, Scénic RX4 and Kangoo Trekka were already presented, but Renault never produced real crossovers. Body shape and design were taken from the Koleos and Egeus concepts.
In August 2008, Koleos passed the crash test of the German company ADAC , in which he scored all five stars, despite some gap in points. [one]
In April 2009, Renault introduced the limited edition Koleos called the Koleos Black Edition. She was distinguished by improved dynamics, trim and improved options. This limited edition is only available in black and gray body colors.
In the UK, it was withdrawn from sales in August 2010 due to low sales, with a total number of sales of 2600 copies. [2] [3]
On the South Korean market it was sold as Renault Samsung QM5 and was produced there too. The QM5 was equipped with the same engines as the Koleos. Production began at the end of 2007.
First-generation production in Europe stopped in March 2015.
In 2011, the design of the car has undergone restyling. The main changes concerned the design of the front of the body. But the interior has undergone changes: there are Bluetooth in the cabin, navigation from a DVD. After 2011, the car was named Phase II. Cars before restyling were called Phase I.
In 2013, another restyling was carried out. Its feature is a modified radiator grille. Now Koleos is called Phase III.
Sales of the first restyling started in October 2011, the second - in June 2013.

Russian market
Renault Koleos was delivered to Russia with both gasoline and diesel engines. Therefore, a potential buyer could choose the type of transmission: a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT with six preset gears are available for a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, and a 6-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission (supplier Jatco) to a 2.0-liter diesel engine.
All-wheel drive is made according to the All-Mode 4x4-i scheme, which is present on the popular Nissan X-Trail . All engine thrust at the command of the driver can be transmitted to the front axle, either continuously on both axles, or the choice of driving mode is provided to the electronics.
In the maximum configuration for Renault Koleos, the Luxe Privelege has an audio system from BOSE , which includes a 6-disc CD-changer, speakers in the doors and a dashboard and a subwoofer located in the trunk. There is a huge sunroof and a panoramic roof at the rear, a steering wheel adjustable in height and reach, an access system to the car and a keyless engine start. [4] Since July 6, 2016, it has not been sold in Russia [5] .
