Kaiserling solution is used for the preparation of anatomical preparations with the preservation of their natural color.
Fixation of drugs in Kaiserling solution breaks down into 3 phases:
1. fresh, non-washed from the blood, the drug is immersed in liquid No. 1:
- formalin 200.0
- potassium nitrate ( nitrate ) 15.0
- potassium acetate 30.0
- boiled water 1000,0
The drug is in the liquid for 1 to 5 days, until the tissues take on a dirty-brown-rusty color;
2. the drug is removed, drains, at which time it can be distributed, dried with rags and immersed in 80-90% alcohol for recovery for 1-2 days to recover. The recovery process goes the usual way.
3. the drug is removed from alcohol, dried, mounted on glass, crushed and immersed in solution No. 3:
- glycerin 200.0-350.0
- potassium acetate 200.0 to 800.0
- boiled water 1000,0
In this fluid, the drug remains all the time. If the solution becomes cloudy, it is replaced.
