Biography
Born on October 20, 1963 in the village of Vladimiromikhaylovka (Columbai), Atbasar district, Akmola region. The family had Russian and Ukrainian roots. When Anatoly was 4 years old, his mother was paralyzed, and his father left the family. My brother Andrei and I were both houseworkers [1] .
Soon his family moved to the city of Atbasar . By the age of fourteen, he had a year and a half to take up the struggle that he had abandoned. At that age, he weighed only 33 kilograms, height was 135 centimeters.
The coach was Alexander Sidorov . About a year, coach Sidorov did not let Khrapaty to the bar, as well as other children - they were engaged in general physical training. Then he began to lift the barbell [1] .
In 1984, he married Galina, whom he met at the age of 16 when she studied at a medical school, and he at the Atbasar College of Mechanization and Agriculture.
In 1985 - 1990 he won at five world championships and five European championships. In 1988, he won the Olympic Games in Seoul, for which he received a prize of 12 thousand rubles from the state.
In 1991, due to the injury, Khrapaty began dystrophy of his right leg, which decreased by 5 cm. He was able to get on his feet thanks to intensive training. He returned to sports and won the silver in the category of up to 99 kg at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
After leaving the “big sport”, he was offered the job of the head coach of the Kazakhstan weightlifting team, which he accepted when the team was in a crisis situation - there was not enough funding even to provide training for leading athletes [1] . The last five years he worked in the Sports Committee of CSKA of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan [2] .
He died at the 45th year of his life on the Astana - Almaty highway as a result of a collision with a Toyota car that flew into the oncoming lane [2] .
