Abraham Vanakan ( Armenian Աբրահամ Վանական ), also Artavazd Vanakan (Արտավազդ Վանական) is an Armenian writer of the 8th century . Biographical data is almost not preserved. He was the guard of Erashkhavor monastery (Ghavar Bznunik, Turuberan ) [1] In 744 [1] wrote his only surviving essay "The Martyrdom of Vahan Goghtnetsi" [2] , dedicated to the killing of Vahan Goghtnetsi by the Arabs in 737 . The work was first mentioned by Stepanos Taronatsi [2] , later on it was included in the “ Asmavurk ” meeting [3] . The "Martyrdom of Vahan Goghtnetsi" contains important [1] information about the era of the Arab yoke in Armenia [2] .
