Formation and combat

The corps was formed on March 8 , 1944 on the Karelian front by reforming the 2nd light infantry corps, created on February 27 , 1944

In the army from 03/08/1944 to 11/15/1944 and from 02/16/1945 to 05/11/1945 .

In June 1944, he was transferred from the front reserve to the border of the Svir River to participate in the Svir-Petrozavodsk operation . Introduced into battle on 07/06/1944 at the junction between the 4th and 37th buildings. The corps was given the 7th Guards Tank Brigade . The corps was faced with the task of defeating the enemy west of the village of Uoma and, together with the 4th corps, destroying Finnish troops in the area of ​​Pitkäranta, which was taken on July 10 , 1944 . On July 11 , 1944 , the corps was given the task of breaking through the enemy’s defenses west of Kivijärvi and reaching the rear of the Sortavala group of Finnish troops. Stubborn, fierce battles continued until 07/27/1944 , but failed to seize Loymola and go to the rear of the Sortavala Finnish group.

Then the corps was transferred to the Arctic .

Before the start of the Petsamo-Kirkenes operation , corps units were in the second echelon of the 14th Army . 10/12/1944 parts of the corps participated in the mastery of the Luostari and approached the approaches of Petsamo . The corps also remained in the second echelon of the army and was put into battle on 10/12/1944 for an offensive in the general direction on Nickel , broke the enemy’s defenses and 10/22/1944 , together with other units semicircled the village, and participated in its capture on 10/22/1944 .

Until November 1944 he was in Norway , removed to the reserve, and on February 20 , 1945 he arrived in the Bielsko ( Czechoslovakia ) region, concentrating by early March 1945 . The hull lacked vehicles and horses.

On March 24 , 1945 , the offensive begins during the Moravian-Ostrava offensive operation, but on the first day of the offensive did not advance. The Moravian-Ostrava fortified area was stormed during the whole of April 1945 , 04/30/1945 parts of the corps participated in the liberation of the Moravian Ostrava .

The corps ended the fighting by participating in the Prague operation.
