Story
A screen version of the novel by Guy de Maupassant .
The action takes place in the XIX century . A group of French bourgeois leaves in the stage of the Prussian-occupied Rouen . One attractive lady of half light goes along with them ...
History
As Romm later recalled:
“ In April 1933, the director called me and said that if I undertake to write in two weeks the script of a silent picture in which there would be no more than ten cheap actors, no more than five simple sets, not a single crowd and with an estimate not exceeding 150 thousand then they will give me an independent production . ”
Under these conditions, plus a few preservation, plus night shifts at the Mosfilm under construction, lack of floors and a strong cold in the pavilion, three lost boxes with footage, Romm took off his “Pyshka”.
From the Pyshka by Maupassant, Romm took only the second part.
