History

This is the only remaining of the three previously existing Krestovsky lanes. So they were named in 1922 by the former Krestovskaya outpost of Kamer-Kollezhsky Val . The outpost (formerly called Trinity) was named in the 18th century by the chapel standing next to it, where from 1652 there was a cross (set in honor of the meeting of the relics of St. Philip ), near which pilgrims were constantly crowded, going to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra . Later, the cross was erected at the outpost itself. Until 1922 - Small Znamensky Lane (not to be confused with the existing lane of the same name), in the Church of the Sign of the Theotokos, built in 1713 .

Location

The 2nd Krestovsky Lane begins on the right of Mira Avenue opposite Riga Square, runs east along the Riga Trestle, on the left is the exit of the Sushchevsky Val trestle and exit to Sokolnikov , and Malaya Pereyaslavskaya Street goes on the right. The lane ends at Bolshaya Pereyaslavskaya Street at the place of its passage to Vodoprovodny Lane opposite the Alekseevskaya connecting line railway tracks (here the “Kalanchevskaya” - “Rzhevskaya” train passes). The Church of the Icon of the Sign of the Mother of God in Pereyaslav Sloboda is located between the 2nd Krestovsky Lane and the Riga Overpass.
