Border Conflict with the Russian State
At the end of the 16th century, Prince Alexander Vishnevetsky, the father of Adam, took possession of vast Ukrainian lands along the Sula River in the Dnieper. The Polish Sejm assigned Prince Alexander his acquisition on the basis of property rights. The occupation of territories that have long gravitated toward Chernigov led to border clashes. Princes Vishnevetsky rebuilt the towns of Lubny and Priluki . Adam Aleksandrovich Vishnevetsky inherited from his father, along with newly-built towns, enmity with the Russian kingdom . The case ended with Tsar Boris Godunov in 1603 ordering the disputed towns of Priluki and Snetino to be burned . Vishnevetsky’s people resisted, and on both sides were killed and wounded.
