Gun Design
The barrel of the gun had a length of 45 calibers (5 caliber less compared to the 305 mm Mark XI gun of the 1905 model ) or 15,435 mm, the length of the threaded part was 12,943 mm. The total length of the gun with a bolt was 15 898 mm, the gun barrel weighed 76 tons.
The ammunition of the guns included 567 kg HE shells and 635 kg armor-piercing shells, the charge weight of nitroglycerin - pyroxylin smokeless powder to the shells was 132.9 kg and 134.7 kg, respectively. The initial velocity of the projectile at the muzzle end was 824 m / s. The channels of the guns after each shot were purged with fresh air with carbon dioxide. The gun was guided vertically by lifting the swinging part of the barrel on the pins , horizontally - by rotating the entire tower relative to the vertical axis using horizontal guidance mechanisms. The aiming angles were set by the gunner as an artillery officer from the fire control post.
