Biography

It has a Castilian origin on the maternal side. His grandfather and grandmother on the mother's side were leather specialists; father’s parents engaged in the manufacture of corsets [1] , the father himself worked as an optometrist.

Julien began to draw with a pencil from the age of three. In childhood, he studied music. Starting to live independently, he settled in the northern suburbs of Paris.

He studied general medicine for two years, received the title of Bachelor in Biology, after which he decided to get an education in fashion and entered the Higher School of Fashion in Paris. Received a diploma in 2000. During the show of graduates of the jury, the Paris Fashion Awards 2000 awarded him the prize for the best accessory.

He worked at the Nina Ricci fashion house, then worked on accessories for Christian Dior and Givenchy houses. Then he was accepted for an internship at the Celine house, after which fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier took him to the position of assistant stylist of the haute couture collection. Fournier worked on the Fall – Winter 2001/2002 collection, searching for materials and concepts for embroidery, and also participated in the creation of stage costumes for the Madonna .

At the end of 2001, Julien moved to the house of Claude Montana under the direction of Stephen Parmentier. Here he worked as a stylist for ready-to-wear collections and accessories, developing collections of bags, scarves and jewelry.

In early 2003, at the age of 28, Fournier was invited to the post of fashion designer of the ready-to-wear line of the Torrente house. Even before the release of his first collection, the directorate appointed him the chief designer of this fashion house. Fournier presented four collections for Torrente : “Paris-Hollywood” (ready-to-wear, spring-summer 2004), “Paris - The Wizard of the Emerald City” (haute couture collection, spring-summer 2004), “Paris - Cotton Club” (ready-to-wear, autumn — winter 2004/2005), Paris-1, Rond Point Street (haute couture collection, autumn — winter 2004/2005).

Then Fournier worked for several years with several ready-to-wear brands in Asia, especially in Korea, while making accessories for the shoe brand Charles Jourdan . In early 2008, he signed a contract with Ramosport fashion house .

In 2009, Julien Fournier was awarded the highest award in Paris in the field of fashion (category "confirmed name").

Fournier is also interested in painting and is the author of a series of nine paintings entitled “Women and Their Weapons”.
