Engaged in biathlon since 1991. Before biathlon she was engaged in cross-country skiing . In 2002, she changed her citizenship from Ukrainian to Belarusian.
Participant in the 1998 , 2002 and 2006 Olympic Games. Despite numerous successes at the world championships and in the World Cup, Elena was not able to win a single medal at the Olympic Games. Her best achievement in personal racing was fifth in the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, when she lost 9.1 seconds to champion Florence Baverel-Robert, and Zubrilova was separated from third place by 2.5 seconds. At the same Olympics in 2006, Zubrilova, in the national team of Belarus, took 4th place in the relay.
She completed her career in sports in 2006, moving to the position of coach of the youth biathlon team of Belarus [1] .
