Biography
Born June 22, 1980 in Tolyatti.
Super League Career
From 1988 to 1998, he trained at the LADA Sports School. He began his professional career in the 1998/99 season defending the gates of the Lada-2 farm club. The 1999/00 season began at the gates of Moscow Spartak , but after 10 games he moved to the main team of Lada, where he spent a season and a half.
In 2000 he won the Best Newcomer of the Season prize.
AHL Career
Ilya began a career in the NHL not very well. For 4 years from 2001 to 2004, he spent only two incomplete matches for Anaheim Mighty Ducks , the rest of the time playing in the AHL for Cincinnati Mighty Ducks , Anaheim farm club . Because of the lockout in the NHL, he spent the 2004/05 season also in the AHL, since the leadership did not let him go to Russia [6] .
NHL Career
Starting from the 2005/06 season, Ilya has been firmly on the team's second goalkeeper, taking part in playoff games as well . In the 2006/07 season, he won the Stanley Cup with the team.
The 2007/08 season began successfully, but in November he was put up for the rejection draft and moved to Phoenix Coyotes , where he was the main goalkeeper for 4 years and 2 times went out with the team in the playoffs after an 8-year break.
In the 2009/2010 season, he was nominated for the Vezina Trophy - the prize for the best goalkeeper in the opinion of the general managers of the NHL clubs, but the best goalkeeper of the Buffalo Sabers was chosen Ryan Miller . In 2011, a month before the expiration of the contract, exchanged “coyotes” to “ Philadelphia ”. In return, the “pilots” gave forward Matt Clarkson and two picks at the 2012 draft. Ilya Bryzgalov signed a contract with Philadelphia for a period of nine years and an amount of $ 51.5 million [7] . After the season ended, Bryzgalov's contract was redeemed, thereby becoming an unlimited free agent .
On November 8, 2013, he signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers club with a salary of $ 1.75 million until the end of the season [8] . On March 4, 2014, Minnesota traded Bryzgalov with Edmonton, giving in return the right to choose a draft pick in the fourth round [11] .
On December 9, 2014, he signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks club , but due to a bad start to the season in March, he was put up for draft rejection. Currently a free agent.
International Competitions
Protects the colors of the Russian national team since 2000, when he won silver medals at the Youth World Championships. Then, in 2000, he spent 4 matches for the national team at the World Cup in St. Petersburg . In addition, he played in 2 matches of the Swedish stage of the Eurotour and 2 friendly matches.
In 2002, became the bronze medalist of the Salt Lake City Olympic Games.

In 2006, he played for the national team at the Olympic Games in Turin . In the first match, the Russian team lost to the Slovak team with a score of 3-5. He was the main goalkeeper of the national team at the victory for the 2009 World Cup , where he spent 7 games. Also played in 1 friendly match before the tournament.
At the Olympics in Vancouver, he played in 2 games.
He was called up to the Russian national hockey team for the 2013 World Cup . He played 4 games, but the team left already at the stage of 1/4 final.
