The city of Arcole went down in military history thanks to the large battle that took place during the First Coalition War between the French army under the command of General Napoleon Bonaparte and the Austrian army under the command of the Field Marshal Josef Alvinci , which lasted from November 15 to 17, 1796 ; the battle ended in the defeat of the Austrians [1] .
