Notes
- ↑ Located on 8th East Street ( East Village , Lower Manhattan , New York), and lasting only a year (1948-1949), the Subjects of the Artist school (the name was designed to emphasize the substantial side of abstractionism) consistently promoted avant-garde art . Its founders, in addition to William Baziotis, were sculptor David Heah and the painters Robert Motherwell , Barnett Newman and Mark Rothko .
