Biography
He graduated from the National School of Arts. M.K. Čiurlionis , then the Leningrad Conservatory (1983) and the graduate school of the Moscow Conservatory (1986). Rinkevicius became a laureate at the Fifth All-Union Competition of Conductors in Moscow ( 1983 ) and at the International Herbert von Karayan Foundation Competition in Berlin ( 1985 ), in 1986 he received a special prize at the International Contest in Memory of Janos Ferenczyk in Budapest .
In 1988, Rinkevičius headed the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and is its permanent leader. At the same time, he directed the Latvian National Opera ( 1996-2003 ), was honored in 1996 and 2000 . the main music award of Latvia, and in 1997 was recognized in Latvia as the conductor of the year. In 2002 - 2005, he directed the orchestra of the Malmö Opera House, and in 2007 he became the head of the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra [2] .
In addition to Novosibirsk, Rinkevicius often performs in Russia with various groups. Wife - Tatyana Rinkevichene, director of the Russian Classics choir, artistic director of the Russian Drama Theater in Vilnius ( 2002 - 2009 ). Their daughters - Ruta Rinkeviciute (b. 1984 ) - pianist, Saule Rinkevichiute (b. 1986 ) - violinist.
