Sports career

Katie's parents did not engage in professional sports, although they always loved him. My father played in various amateur football teams, and his mother seriously engaged in cross-country skiing in her youth: at the famous β€œ Ski Track of Russia ” she once even got into the top ten. Therefore, the daughter’s hobby for sports was always only supported. As a child, Katya was engaged in ballroom dancing, volleyball, and basketball, but she showed the highest results in badminton, which she began to practice after she did not like skating. In badminton, Katya reached the category of candidate for master of sports, was recognized as the best player by the end of the year. There were few rivals at that time; accordingly, the incentive also disappeared. And speed skating trainers convinced that she had prospects in skating and persuaded her to return [1] .

Ekaterina’s specialization is 500-1500 meters, therefore, after the end of her career as Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova , she was the leader of the national team. Now Catherine is training under the guidance of the famous Italian coach Maurizio Marchetto.

After completing her sports career, Ekaterina opened her skating school in Kolomna and became the head of the All-Russian project "School of Champions"

Conflict with Abramova

In 2008, before the final stage of the World Cup, there was a quarrel between Lobysheva and Ekaterina Abramova , because of Abramova’s refusal to participate in the competition. As a result, instead of Abramova, the sprinter Svetlana Kaykan ran in the team race and the team took the last place in the race, having rolled by the sum of points to third place, although before that it was the leader in the World Cup. And at the World Championship in individual distances, the women's team withdrew from participation.

Later, the Russian Skating Union disqualified Abramova for a year, and Lobysheva was reprimanded. [2]

She graduated from Kolomna State Pedagogical Institute with a degree in physical education. In the future, Catherine does not exclude the possibility that after completing her career, she will engage in coaching. [3] .
